The Smart Drug Discovery Research Group (SDD-JO)

The Smart Drug Discovery Research Group (SDD-JO) is a multidisciplinary and collaborative research initiative dedicated to accelerating the discovery and development of innovative therapeutic agents through the integration of artificial intelligence, computational modeling, nanotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, and experimental biomedical research. The group focuses on the exploration of natural products and bioactive compounds, the design of advanced nanoparticle-based delivery systems, and the application of AI-assisted drug discovery strategies for identifying promising therapeutic candidates.

The research group brings together experts from multiple scientific and industrial disciplines, including drug design and computational chemistry researchers, nanoparticle and nanotechnology specialists from the School of Science, biological activity researchers from the School of Allied Medical Sciences, pharmaceutical chemistry researchers from the School of Pharmacy, and industrial-sector collaborators to support translational application, commercialization, and technology transfer. The group also benefits from international expertise in pharmaceutical chemistry and smart drug discovery to strengthen global collaboration and research excellence.

SDD-JO integrates advanced in silico approaches — including virtual screening, pharmacophore modeling, molecular docking, molecular-dynamics simulations, and computational toxicity prediction — with in vitro and in vivo experimental validation to develop safe, effective, and targeted treatments against infectious diseases, cancer, and other major health challenges. By bridging fundamental scientific research with translational biomedical applications, the group aims to contribute to sustainable healthcare innovation, strengthen regional scientific capacity, and support the mission of Applied Science Private University in advancing interdisciplinary research, innovation, and collaborative partnerships aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and sustainable scientific development.
