The D+ research group was established to understand the relationship between vitamin D and selected dietary supplements (+), and the modern Allostatic Load (AL) model hypothesis. Therefore, the DAL+ team aims to study the physiological and pathological responses associated with therapeutic protocols involving medications, dietary supplements, and functional beverages, including both widely available and newer products. Monitoring early changes in the AL model is a keystone of the research group’s philosophy for understanding modern individual physiological changes in health and disease.
The research group focuses on evaluating therapeutic dosages, individual consumption patterns, and product-specific characteristics as key quantitative and qualitative parameters. These factors are investigated as potential early indicators of changes within the AL model and their association with individual health status.
The team prioritizes the study of widely consumed nutritional supplements within local and Arab populations, particularly vitamins and minerals, as well as commonly consumed and emerging beverages. Specific research topics include vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, energy drinks, and stimulant-containing beverages such as coffee and tea.
DAL+ studies involve the extraction, quantification, and characterization of bioactive compounds found in beverages and plants. This includes identifying active ingredients, assessing their bioavailability, evaluating their biological activity, and determining their potential health effects. The DAL+ research team links research data and findings with bioinformative analysis to understand targeted changes.
The group aims to integrate compositional analysis of bioactive compounds with functional and clinical assessments, linking intake patterns to physiological and pathological changes in individuals. Particular emphasis is placed on prevalent health conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, and neurological disorders.
Allostatic Load changes and neuroendocrine associations: Early prediction associated with recent life style patterns; Stress , obesity , sleep deprivation , dose – dependent supplementation , and functional beverages, including both widely consumed and newly introduced products.
